Bachelor of Arts in Paralegal Studies
Loyola’s BA in paralegal studies at SCPS pairs legal knowledge with practical skills to help both current and aspiring paralegals sharpen their skills and expand their professional possibilities.
Approved by the American Bar Association, the program’s curriculum combines career-oriented courses with traditional academic skills like legal research, writing, and analysis. Faculty—legal practitioners who work in the substantive areas in which they teach—also cover vital topics, such as legal ethics, computer applications, and law office expectations. Notably, the program offers students the opportunity to earn a specialized certificate in litigation and corporate practice.
The BA in paralegal studies program attracts students completing their four-year degree and those interested in starting or expanding their legal career. Many students go on to attend law school. Others use their enhanced credentials to pursue opportunities at large law firms or corporations as well as mid-sized and boutique law firms. Some graduates specialize in areas like e-discovery or employment law.
"Our graduates are successful, confident legal professionals whose work ethic and training are valued and sought out.” Marie Harrigan, Clinical Assistant Professor and Director of Institute for Paralegal Studies
